POLITICS AND THE PROPHETIC
AN ESTUARIES CONVERSATION
Is the prophetic radar of the charismatic church broken?
Beginning in 2015, there were a growing number of prophecies that described Donald Trump as a righteous leader chosen by God to lead America. The prophecies came from a perplexing confluence of credible and questionable prophetic voices, who seemed to be saying very similar things. All this came to a head in 2020, when several well-known prophets prophesied wrongly that Trump would win a second term.
In the moment, and in retrospect, there appears to be a deeper issue at the root of these prophecies than wishful thinking or desire to be adjacent to political power. For one thing, many of these prophets have a proven track record of uncanny accuracy. This conversation attempts to come to a more holistic critique of what we have just witnessed in the American charismatic church.
This is the beginning a series of long-form conversations about the issues of our moment via holistic frameworks, critiques, and inquiry.
This conversation features Yining Chou and Christina & Christian Gonzalez Ho.
